Bobby Caldwell

Blue-Eyed Soul Singer/Songwriter

From blue-eyed soul to pop, R&B, and standards, singer/songwriter Bobby Caldwell was truly one of the most respected members of the music industry.

Bobby was born in NYC on August 15, 1951, to showbiz parents Bob and Carolyn Caldwell. Bobby grew up with music and taught himself guitar and piano at an early age. He had a beautiful voice and went on to write his own songs. His big break came in 1978 after signing with TK Records in Hialeah, Florida, and releasing his timeless classic, “What You Won’t Do For Love.”

In Japan and throughout Asia, he enjoyed feverish popularity, selling out shows and achieving gold and platinum status for his releases in those countries. In addition to heavy touring, Bobby starred as Frank Sinatra in the David Cassidy/Don Reo theatrical production “The Rat Pack Is Back” in Las Vegas, Nevada. Bobby received rave reviews for his performance, both from industry critics and from his loyal fans.

Bobby has been featured on The CBS Second Cup Café, The Tonight Show, BET Jazz Central, The Soul Train Awards, Unsung, and has made numerous national and local network appearances. His songwriting skills earned hits not only for himself but also for well-known artists like Chicago, Boz Scaggs, Peter Cetera, Amy Grant, Neil Diamond, Al Jarreau, John Legend, Snoh Aalegra, and others. His work has been sampled by some of the most renowned rappers, such as Tupac Shakur, Notorious B.I.G., and Common.

In January of 2017, Bobby suffered devastating side-effects (i.e. FLOXED) from a prescription antibiotic, which limited his mobility and caused chronic pain. His last show was in Vegas on February 15, 2020. He passed away in the arms of his wife at his New Jersey home on March 14, 2023.
